We are very proud of long time patient, Bill Ruck, who was inducted into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame, August of 2014. Dental Patient Receives Prestigious Award

Our patient, well known San Francisco music director and orchestra conductor, Joan Murray, has received the Bay Area Jefferson Award.  She appeared on Channel 5 recently explaining her commitment to bringing music and orchestra participation into the lives of San Francisco children.  Twenty years ago, she founded the Golden Gate Philharmonic which is an after school youth orchestra that reaches out to children from all walks of life, including the underprivileged.  She opens her home and her heart to this all-encompassing project and has had great success.  Dr. Presley-Nelson’s sons were a part of GGP for many of their childhood years, as an adjunct to their participation in school orchestras at West Portal Lutheran and SF School Of the Arts.  Dr. Presley-Nelson volunteered teaching music and assisting Ms. Murray for most of those years.  We are proud to have her in our patient family and honor her achievement and recognition here on our website.  (She is also a wonderful dental patient and refers us many lovely people.) Go Ms. Murray!

Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Blessings for the New Year. Here we are celebrating at our office     Christmas Party. Yes, we are all wearing humorous holiday headgear!
We had salad and the best pizza in town across from the office at Ken and Amy’s Eagle Pizza on Taraval. They always make us welcome and take good care of us. We exchanged “Secret Santa” gifts and some were quite funny. A good time was had by all, part-time interns, full timers, and “lifers” alike. Doc’s husband Gary took the photo and poured wine. We wish all of you lovely patients the best of the season.

DR. PRESLEY-NELSON RETURNS TO TEACHING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC, DUGONI SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY

Dr. Presley-Nelson, as you may know, taught dental school for many years, 2-3 days a week, while practicing in her private office 3-4 days.  She became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Diagnosis and Treatment Planning, helped developed the video exam, to test students with a movie of procedures, and lectured on various topics.

Having a family curtailed her academic career, and she focused on her home and office only, until recently.  Now that her sons are college aged, she has added teaching at UOP Dental School back into her busy schedule.  She now is a Clinical Instructor, checking each step of all different procedures being performed on patients coming to the dental school clinic, from fillings and crowns to dentures.  She enjoys interacting with the students, faculty, and the wonderful patients.   Here you see her in the daily clinical garb, moving from cubicle to cubicle in the dental clinic.

Movie Maker Goes to the Dentist!

Here you see our long standing patient Ms. Melanie Walas, who makes our "Comes From Afar" box in our Newsletter with her trek from the East Bay. She collects vintage clothing and kooky accessories and always has amazing outfits, as you can see with the beautiful pink coat that she made.

One of her early projects was making costumes for puppets for the stop-motion animation films JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH and MONKEYBONE. She has worked for ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) and other companies for many years as a model maker/painter. She has painted spaceships, ships and sets for such films as STAR WARS(I - III), PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN(I-II), SPACE COWBOYS, WAR OF WORLDS, GALAXY QUEST, STARSHIP TROOPERS and THE MATRIX(II-III). More recently, she has been working as a digital painter at ILM, painting robots for TRANSFORMERS (II-III) and buildings and props for the movie RANGO.

Her current projects are top secret until they come out, but we're always excited to see what she's been up to!

We enjoy her dental visits, as we enjoy seeing all of our multi-talented, and dear patients. Go Melanie! See you in the Movies!

Your dental office celebrates with a holiday party at Doc's house!

Here you see Dr. PN and Dr. Fung and their illustrious staff enjoying time of fellowship and fun for the holidays. They drew names and exchanged Secret Santa gifts and played games including a musical attempt at Christmas Carols with each member tooting a different note. Dr. PN tried to conduct but gave up and turned the job over her more musically trained sons. A good time was had by all and a toast was raised to honor all you wonderful dental patients! And to wish you each a wonderful holiday season and a safe, happy, and healthy New Year!
